Annapurna Sanctuary Trek also famously termed as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most trekked route in the Nepal and takes place in the Annapurna Region.

The Annapurna Base Camp lies at a height of 4,130 meters and is where mountaineers start their summit of Annapurna I, the 10th highest peak in the world at 8,091 meters. The trail goes alongside terraced rice paddies, lush rhododendron forests and high altitude landscapes with the Annapurna Range in view most of the times. Moreover, it also passes through villages of ethnic Gurung and Thakali communities.

The trek overall is beautiful and gives you a very up close experience with Annapurna and Machhapuchhre mountains. It is especially beautiful during spring as rhododendron flowers along the trail turn red, pink and white. Moreover, travelers get a unique opportunity to take a dip in the warm natural spring at Jhinu Dada and get refreshed at the end of the trek.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Distance Coverage

The trek total distance coverage starting from Siwai and ending at Jhinu is around 74.4 kilometers. The longest part of the trek will be when descending down from Annapurna Base Camp to the village of Bamboo which is around 22 kilometers in a single day. Annapurna Base Camp Trek Altitude Variation

The highest point of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is at the base camp at 4,130 meters above sea level. Trekkers might experience some symptoms of altitude sickness beginning around Macchapuchhre Base camp at around 3,700 meters. Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek program is paced out to minimize the chances of altitude sickness.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 1 | KATHMANDU (1400 m)

Meals: Dinner
Pick up at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
Welcome dinner with traditional food and cultural show

Day 2 | CHHOMRONG (2055 m)

Meals:Breakfast
Transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara by domestic flight (25 mins)
Drive to Matkyu by jeep/bus (3 hrs.)
Trek start from Matkyu to Chhomrong (2055 m/ 4-5 hrs)

• It could result in the cancellation or changes of domestic flights in case of unpredictability in the weather. If there isn’t a flight on that day, the team will find the alternative ones or the plan may be adjusted.

Day 3 | BAMBOO (2310 m)

Meals: –
Trek from Chhomrong to Bamboo (2310 m/ 5-6 hrs)

Day 4 | DEURALI (3230 m)

Meals: –
Trek from Bamboo to Deurali (3230 m/ 5-6 hrs)

Day 5 | ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (4130 m)

Meals: –
Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m/5-6 hrs)
via MBC (Machhapuchhre Base Camp)

Day 6 | DOVAN (2500 m)

Meals: –
Trek from ABC to Dovan (2500 m/ 7-8 hrs)

Day 7 | JHINU DANDA (1780 m)

Meals: –
Trek from Dovan to Jhinu Danda (1780m/ 7-8 hrs)

Day 8 | POKHARA (1400 m)

Meals: Dinner
Trek from Jhinu Danda to Matkyu  (4-5 hrs)
Transfer from Matkyu to Pokhara (3 hrs)
Evening Boat Ride at Phewa Lake (if weather permits)

Day 9 | KATHMANDU (1400 m)

Meals: Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner

Transfer from Pokhara to Kathmandu by domestic flight (25 mins)
Shopping time at Thamel
